clip_image007.jpgSpark their Creative Genius!

Creativity is not only an important part of development; it’s also lots
of fun! Provide your kids with plenty opportunities to express themselves
creatively and learn new ways to think and problem-solve through drawing
, painting, building, role playing and more.

Here’s interesting and helpful information from an article
on Creativity and Play from the
PBS website:

“Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. There is nothing more satisfying
and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and
without judgment. The ability to be creative, to create something from
personal feelings and experiences, can reflect and nurture children's emotional
health. The experiences children have during their first years of life can significantly
enhance the development of their creativity. “

YBIKE TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

The launch of YBIKE in Trinidad was well received by both kids and parents.
A few kids’ races were held as well as separate races for moms and dads with
lots of laughter and enthusiasm! In fact, YBIKE made such an impression
that it is now even used in a school’s curriculum as Neurodevelopment Circuit.

YBIKE was the first ever toddler race at the Trinidad &
Tobago Beacon International Cycling Race which was covered by local TV stations. What fun!

Welcome YBIKE TT! We are excited to grow YBIKE with you!

QUESTION FORUM

Q: My 2 year old bites other kids on the playground. How should I handle this?

A: At this age it is important to have clear rules and boundaries for hurting behaviour, as hitting, biting and hurting are often substitutes for a lack of verbal expression at this age.  For instance say ‘No hitting Mary!’ Try to distract the child, before she acts out, and encourage her to ‘use her words’. It is important to help young children to understand that their behaviour is hurting other children. A good way of fostering this is to focus on the child that was hurt and give him or her special attention, and ask Mary to apologise. It is also important for parents and caregivers to verbalise underlying emotions and offer an alternative: I can see you are angry but hitting is not acceptable, rather use your bouncy ball to get rid of all the angry feelings.
